We’ve created a simple game to show the benefits of having accurate inventory and well defined locations/bins. Navigate using the controls on your keyboard.
You will be given orders on the right hand of the screen, along with the SKU, quantity, and location to pick the item from. Navigate the forklift up to the location and click the Space bar to enter that location. Next, type in the SKU, location, and quantity you are picking up for this order. Alternatively, you can also “scan” the SKU and location using the buttons to the right. Four potential barcodes will display and you select the one of the SKU/location are you picking. This will simulate scanning a barcode in the real world.
If you entered the correct values, the inventory will be picked to your forklift. Now, drive it back to the staging location and deposit with the Space bar. Continue on with the next order. You have three minutes to deliver as many items as you can!
One extra piece of information. You can only carry four units at a time. So if an order calls for more than that, you must make multiple trips.
So what is the purpose of this game? The idea is to show how efficient fulfilling customer orders can be. Imagine you have orders coming in but you have no idea where you have your product stored. You have to check each location, one at a time, until you find the product.
